Cascade Mountain

Elevation: 2,998 m
Location: Vermilion Range, Banff AB
Climbing Partner: Nathan Korpal

Short story, as this will mainly be a photo blog, but Meg and I were in Banff AB for our good friends wedding. Making a weekend of it we met up with some other friends and decided to try the scramble up Cascade Mountain. Many people have seen and admired this towering pyramid of rock with never knowing its name. Over watching the town of Banff, it provides the picturesque backdrop to all photographs down its main street.

During and after the wedding, Meg was unfortunately sick. While she was recuperating in our hotel room she shoved me out the door with my friend, Nathan Korpal. Telling me to go have some fun (and to probably let her be and get some sleep).

This was Nathan’s third attempt, I believe. The times before being pushed back due to snow conditions or weather. This third time, however, would be the charm as they say.

Overall this was a great, full day of scrambling with consistently gorgeous views. Nothing too technical, although we brought helmets and axes just in case. Highly recommended for an experienced hiker who wants to gain a lot of elevation or for a climber looking for good day objective to scramble.

Happy climbing!
